BEFORE YOU START

Good to know

Clean endings

Periods, commas and closing brackets that belong to the sentence are removed, while brackets that are part of the link are kept.

Web links only

Links that start with http://, https:// or www. are included, and www. addresses are completed with https://. Other schemes such as mailto: and javascript: are left out.

Nothing is opened

Links are only read as text. The tool never visits them, so it is safe to paste suspicious messages.

QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

How do I extract URLs from a copied web page?

Open the page source in your browser, copy it and paste it here, with the page address as the base URL. Links in href and src attributes are found and relative paths are completed. The tool reads what you paste; it does not visit the page or crawl the website.

Can it extract links from HTML code?

Yes. Addresses inside href and src attributes are found, & in the code is read as &, and links written in the text are included too.

How do I list only the external links of a page?

Enter the address of the page as the base URL, then choose “Other sites only”. Links to the same domain, with or without www., are hidden.

Why are some web addresses not found?

Addresses without www. or a scheme, such as example.com/page, are not recognised, because ordinary words containing dots would be mistaken for links. Relative links also need a base URL.

Are repeated links listed once?

When “Remove exact duplicates” is checked, a link that appears several times is listed once, in the order it first appears.
