A better fit for your product photos

Make a consistent set of images without cutting out the important details.

Start with the whole picture

A square frame does not have to mean a cropped product. Choose “Fill canvas with padding” in the resizer to keep the entire image visible and add space around it. For an image that already has the right shape, “Fit within dimensions” keeps its proportions without adding a border.

Crop when the edges get in the way

Sometimes the frame includes a table edge, a cable or too much empty background. The Image Cropper lets you choose a shape such as 1:1 and move the frame on each photo, so the product stays where you want it. Cropping keeps the original pixels inside the frame; it does not enlarge them.

Make one decision for the whole set

Choose a common canvas size, such as 2048 × 2048 pixels, then inspect each result. Small originals are not enlarged by default: stretching an image increases pixel dimensions, but does not recover missing detail.

Shopify suggests 2048 × 2048 pixels for square product photos. This is a useful starting point, not a universal requirement. Check the destination’s current guidance and your store’s theme before uploading. Read Shopify’s product media guidance.

Check the weight after resizing

Use the resizer’s exports as inputs, switch to Compress, and enter your maximum file size. If quality adjustments alone are not enough, the tool will tell you. You can allow smaller dimensions explicitly, then compare the exported file before saving.
